We are an editorial team of researchers and writers based in Austin. We are not pest control technicians. We rely on published licensing records, certification body registries, public customer reviews, structured outreach to companies, and (where appropriate) mystery-shopper calls to evaluate providers. None of us has a financial relationship with any pest control company outside the disclosure documented on our Disclosure page.
Why we focus on one recommendation per region
“Top 10” listicles are useless. They give homeowners no help in making a decision. The reader who came to a page about scorpion control in West Lake Hills wants to know who to call, not which 10 companies they could research themselves. We do the research and recommend one.
Our methodology is documented on the Editorial Standards page. The same methodology is applied to every page on this site. If the recommendation changes for a region (for example, if a recommended provider’s licensing lapses or a competitor materially improves), the page changes.
What we do not do
We do not write sponsored content. We do not accept pay-for-placement on the recommendation. We do not list providers we have not researched. We do not handle pest control work ourselves — we are a publication, not an operator.
